I have seen the commercials and I cry foul. The original show featured McGavin as a reporter hunting down supernatural creatures. He was that sort of hardboiled, working class, low budget type of reporters seen in 50s films. He went about things in a way that pissed off the authorities and he never got his stories published (makes you wonder how he stayed employed).

This new show has Stuart Townsend as Kolchak. He's a pretty boy, so not McGavin but then we can't have an older actor be the main character anymore cause those youngsters won't watch (they think). Also, the original show had alot of humor which is devoid in the ads for the new one. To me, this just looks like an X-Files rip off with the bonus of claiming to be the show that inspired the X-Files. Are any of those who worked on the orignal Kolchak involved? Doubt it.
