they seem a little more willing to give high-quality but low-rated shows a longer time to find an audience than the other networks do. I doubt our beloved XF would have lasted longer than a dozen eps on any other network, as it got off to a slow start, too.
FOX also seems to occasionally be willing to air dramas that focus on people involved in careers other than the realms of medicine or law, such as the recently cancelled "Boston Public".
