Old Griff Fan, you are correct. I love the school and the team but Canisius doesn't have a clue on how to build relationships with past players as well as market.

Are there retired jerseys hanging in Koessler? Have we've even retired a number? We don't make a big deal of our past history nor do we even have it out for people to see. The Hall of Fame and trophy cases aren't current or up to date.

It doesn't sound like a big deal but it communicates a message loud and clear about what's important. The past is just as important as the future.

griff fan you hit the nail on the head..lots of great history from the old days seems to have just disappeared..i've done the microfiche scans of old buffalo news and courier express articles from the 50-60- and early 70's when there was a real hatred among the little three. in my opinion, the "problems" started in the early 70's when the braves and sabres appeared on the scene. Couple that with the fogle nonsense and it was, and continues, to be game over. Lots of effort over the years have gone into fixing this with, at best, mixed results. Obviously winning is a start, but the key is to maintain and sustain especially in a mid to low major league. Unfortunately, in most cases, the cycle for almost all teams is up and down. Our problem has been that we have been staying down. Look at the run Niagara is on. Look at Siena. When they go down it's not for long -see Rob Lanier. I've posted in the past, the money/committment is the answer. I'm hoping what we saw this spring with softball, lax and baseball is the first taste of that committment

Dana Scully, nice work and I would recommend that you pass this info. on to Bill Maher. Bill wants us to connect back to the past & future but I think the lack of manpower to do this has always been the issue. They are in the midst of relaunching the GoGriffs websiste and perhaps some of your work could be used when they update an area about our history.

We need to do it right vs. doing it cheap.

I also know that Coach Parrotta could use some of this when they work on this years press guide. The press guide is one of the most important recruiting tool the staff uses.

Think about sharing your findings with those that can do something with it. I know that there are some young guys who are part of the Coaches Circle that are pushing for this and former Griffs great Dennis Misko would support your efforts as well.
