Subject: Johnny McCarthy and Jim Baron

In two consecutive Saturdays I had personal encounters with former Griffs coach johnny McCarthy and current coach Jim Baron. Both happened in Orchard Park. McCarthy was getting his haircut at the same place I was. He looked great - like he could still play. I think he is in his 80s now. Today, Coach Baron was buying coffee at one of the McDonald's in OP. I asked him if Bleeker is putting on weight. He said, "a little bit." Maybe next week I'll run into John Beilein!

One of the best! John is not yet in his 80's. I believe he is a couple years short of that mark. He plays a lot of golf, and probably still hoops it up at the Y, and that could explains why he still looks in such great shape.
