Subject: Giffs played well over week-end

Conqrats to griffs for effort they gave this week-end almost won 2 games came up short at Iona but didn;t quit. Were 1 down with 49 sec. left had the ball but turned it over and that was the end,.To play that well at Iona is a win in it;s own. They hit 23 out of 24 free throws.we only had 12 and hit 8.

Agree. I though the team might have played it's best game this season at Iona. After the Monmouth game, I was expecting a blowout on Sunday, but the team gave it their all. The Gaels are playing well, and will most likely once again represent the MAAC at the dance. I'm concerned about the two remaining games. NU blew the Griffs out last year at the KAC, and again this season at the Gallagher, and the Saint are playing much better. Somehow the Griffs have to win these contest. Go Griffs!!!

Totally agree about the lack of rebounding. White is very athletic but cannot rebound. Most of our frontline players just watch the shots go up, but do not fight for position and box out. This could be related to poor coaching.

The discrepancy in free throws tells me the Griffs were not aggressively going to the hoop, where fouls are very often called. Settling for 3’s which, this game, were going in. If they are not,we lose because our rebounding is so poor. Our guys do not box out and go to war on the boards. Plus , lack of athleticism up front, really hurts us.

I agree the griffs need to rebound better. There 4 teams in the MAAC, that average less rebounds then the griffs this year. We play one of them on Friday night at the KAC. Go Griffs! Beat Niagara!

The settling for 3's is a real problem, IMO. Too often we're jacking up 3's with under 5 seconds left on the shot clock after too much passing around the perimeter. There is no flow to many of possessions.

Recently, the Griffs have attempted to get the ball inside a little more. But, a BIG BUT, many of the entry passes are from the top of the key where each pass is almost a 50/50 ball. Sure, we've seen a handful of alley oop dunks...yippee...but we also seen numerous turnovers and difficult, off-balance, catches under the basket where our big guy has no place to go. I don't care if Mike Smrek was still on the team, entry passes should be coming from the wings down to the low blocks, on the post players shown hand with a defender sealed on his hip. Or from the elbow (seems like a forgotten spot in our offense). It's pathetic how poor the low post game is. This is a pure reflection on coaching.

Some might argue we have the most athletic front court in the league. Size/weight is more a problem then athleticism IMO. Go Griffs!
