Niagara has a basketball or nothing funding model. When basketball is great, it works. When basketball is terrible or mediocre, it brings everything else down.

Iona has two dedicated staff members whose primary job is to raise money exclusively for Athletics. Dennis does a great job, but he's one person. Maddock and Maher supervise teams, supervise staff, mentor student-athletes and GA's, sit on a slew of campus committees, AND raise money. In the case of John, he's also overseeing sponsorships and ticket sales.

It's a big problem for Canisius in the long and short terms. The school needs to find a way to give Athletics a full-time fundraiser.

Siena, has a similar model. Hurley needs to give this some serious consideration. One way to do it is to have an athletic vision / mission for CC. Show alums & fans what our facilities will look like in the next 5 years and where we want to go. Dream a bit, put it out there, you might be surprised who will bite. Go Griffs!
