I enjoy verbal commits as well. But come on. They report what gets tweeted. If they are getting 10% of what is actually going on recruiting wise, it's a lot. Kids sign "out of nowhere" consistently with no mention whatsoever prior to the signing by verbal commits. Canisius and everyone else offer hundreds of kids that don't get reported on twitter or verbal commits or anyone else.

And why does having a back up PG to Malik not make any sense? He's a JUCO kid. What else could he expect other than to come in his first year and be a backup to the incumbent and then have a chance to start as a senior. That's what JUCO's do.

I don’t disagree that not all meetings, discussions, etc. are reported, but anyone of significance will absolutely be reported.

We have one 3 Star guard which we have a 0.4% chance of getting. I also challenge the group to find me a significant forward we have successfully recruited. Hitchon is decent, but he is the best we have. Johnson-Alls was supposed to be a great player, and either we screwed that up or he was as terrible as he looked.

Do not dismiss the notion that we are recruiting at the bottom, as every player on the lists are undersized or completely lackluster in stats. Better start praying that one of these kids is a gem in the rough like Reese was...and we can actually retain them if that’s the case.

You are right on in your assessment. When you scrounge for players this late, you know you are getting players no one else wanted. Warm bodies to fill out the roster. Projects and red shirt prospects, with the hope you get lucky. With the defections and seniors leaving, there is little reason for any excitement for next year. Sad but true.Realistic, not pessimistic. Go Griffs.
