Interesting player, ,looks like he moves very well in videos of european games, probably will need time to mature and fill out but could be a good player in the maac, probably a pretty good front court addition , lets hope we can add some scorers in this signing period as well!

Before anyone gets excited- he averaged 6.3 pts at DME Academy.
On the other hand- you cant teach 6'10

I understand that Kevin Bleeker is largely responsible for guiding this kid to Canisius

Kevin, found the kid and connected him to the staff.

Whatever happened to Mervin James? Last year’s recruit who cancelled out at the last minute.

Seems intriguing...

Which means he will start to develop this year, gain some confidence going into his sophomore year, then he will be suspended halfway through his sophomore because he has an attitude.

Then either declare for the NBA draft or transfer to Seton Hall.

Very familiar story. Late signing with no other offers. Probably still another project. Don’t bother with highlight videos. You know every shot is going in.Who is going to score next year? What a mess!

In the Bflo News this morning Patrick Beilein was quoted as saying that he hopes to have his team filled by the middle of June. Looks like NU will also have to make good with the scraps that fall from the table. Griff, I'm so tired of reading the moronic comments of some of the people who post on this site. This forum has become nothing more than a Jr. High slam book. Too bad!!

Interesting that Kevin Bleeker was instrumental in this signing. Might be the only way this staff can get a commit from anyone. We seem to offer anyone with two arms and two legs , and cannot get anyone to visit let alone sign.Pretty pathetic track record.

How can anyone complain about this signing ? Low mid major programs aren't going to get polished , highly recruited 6'10 players . He's definitely worth taking a chance on . Hopefully he'll be a solid contributor by his sophomore year .

There's no such thing as "low mid major". It's either mid major or low major.

Down year for the MAAC the past year, when they were rated 29th out 32 but the previous 2 years were 15th and 21st. So the MAAC is somewhere in the middle. Some years are better than others, that's why this year was so disappointing. Conference was bad and we still couldn't win it.

Exactly. Look at some of the comments from people whining about recruiting. Is that helping? By the way, who recruited Takal anyway? Isaiah's only offer was Canisius and Reggie helped develop him into a preseason POY. The same people that say RW and staff can't recruit, are mad that his past great recruits have chosen to follow the culture of the new NCAA transfer game, now at 678 transfer requests this year. Or just make a mistake and try to join the NBA way too soon. So to those people. Can Reggie recruit or can't he? Can't have it both ways. Have a little faith in Reggie and see what happens. Hitchon, White and Henderson also RW recruits, I think will surprise some next year. Hadzic, Rautins and Ford hopefully are ready to contribute. St.Louis had his best year last year, also thinking that will continue to improve next year. Reggie has now signed Jacco who looks to be a decent recruit, needs to bulk up a bit but looks to have some ability. Malik will be the key to next year. He will need to have his best year as a Griff and get everyone involved. If MJ is a pass first PG next year, we have the shooters to make shots. Malik should average over 10 points a game, but more importantly he should be averaging about 7 assists per game, about 2 more than last year, to have a good chance of success. Play as a team, grow as a team, win as a team. Go Griffs!

I don't disagree with BBD. But I think there is a feeling among many fans that the Reese situation was not well handled by Reggie or the staff and that also precipitated Molson looking for a so called "greener pasture". We know that "greener pastures" do not always turn out that way. There are obviously also those who feel the coaches are very ham-handed in their relations with the students, alumni and others in general. It's up to them to clean up that perception. So far there's no sign of a post-season banquet that could be an opportunity for mending fences. Anyone in the powers that be at Canisius paying attention? Someone needs to. If not, again do we have any volunteers for a grass roots movement to try to help? I hope some one time Cage Clubbers might think about it.

[> [> [> Re: Jacco Fritz... -- There won’t be a basketball banquet, Fri, April 19 2019, 14:57:01

I’ve got news for you diehards, there isn’t going to be a banquet. I believe the Canisius Sports Hall of Fame induction took the place of the banquet.

https://gogriffs.com/news/2018/11/27/general-canisius-announces-newest-hall-of-fame-class.aspx

Something tells me that coaching staff isn’t really interested in getting peppered with questions about Isaiah, Takal and why we can’t beat Niagara.

Exactly the maturity I’d expect out of this staff. Here is a chance to talk to the very crowd which criticizes you and right some wrongs and they duck it. This staff is seriously a joke! They’ve proven to be so bad at their jobs that they are relying on former players to recruit for them and some have become so used to an underwhelming job in recruitment that we are praising another offensive tall guy who shows no defensive promise (the very thing that Phillip Reginald claims as a strong point of his scheme).

Everybody is entitled to their opinion, but if you feel this staff is doing a good job your standards have become much too low. They duck alumni, chase away talent, get into verbal altercations with fans, and ultimately do not win when MAAC is at its lowest.
