Two Doogs memories that will forever live with me -

I believe it was Macarchuk's last year but may have been Marbach's first year. Grady Minnick was a year older than me. In the, at that time, traditional and not so serious Blue/Gold game that gave fans/students a first glimpse of the team, Doogs "coached" one team and someone else the other. Minnick unsuccessfully tried saving a ball as it went out of bounds and in front of the roughly 150 fans, screamed "FU**". Instantly, a quick witted fan yelled back, "What kind of a team are you running here Father?" In typical fashion, Doogs simply turned to the crowd, put his hands up, smirked, and shook his head. Priceless.

Fast forward several years to my second great memory when I accompanied the team, during Mike MacDonald's final year, on a road trip to Rider and Iona and Doogs too made the trip. This was the Downey, Harris, Herring, Wilson, Doss, Popofski team. Mike invited me into the locker room for the pre-game talks both games. So, I was able to see, in person, Father Dugan's prayer and legendary conclusion (of which I was able to participate in), "St. Peter Canisius... Pray for us."

Rest in Peace Father Dugan.

Griff -
I may have you beat on a Fr Dugan story....
Spring Break '87 - Daytona Beach - Pool side....
The DJ is cranking Billy Idol's Mony Mony....
As everyone knows there is a part where the crowd yells out....
"Get L***, Get F***ed"
I just so happened to be sitting with Doogs at the time. Poolside, bikinis everywhere, beverages not lasting long...
Doogs asks me, "so, what are you kids saying right there during the song?" ...... "you know Father, I'm not really sure, but they sure are having fun, don't ya think?"
