Less and less fans are attending the Lady Griffs games. And there is a reason. The team is dreadful. They are not remotely competitive. They are now 2-14 and 1-6 in the MAAC. We seem to be getting worse each year. I would hope there are plans to somehow change the direction of this team moving forward.

The top senior in WNY joins the team next year. Gige the new coach more than 1.5 years and one recruiting class to completely overhaul a program that was on the downswing.

Griffs men’s basketball need to take note. Scott will get the Lady Griffs turned around.

What has the women’s basketball program shown to suggest any chance of a turnaround? The basketball talent in WNY isn’t good. Getting the player of the year who plays Class D?

On pace for the worst season by the program in more than 20 years?

The men’s program has 39 MAAC wins in the last 3-plus seasons under Reggie. Hasn’t had a losing league record in his first three years. Not sure why notes they should be taking

Also, the last time Canisius had a coach take over for a basketball program that was “on the downswing,” it worked real great under Tom Parrotta

Did OK in his first year with MacDonald’s players and then was atrocious in year 2... sounds similar!

Easy to take credit when the other coach recruited and brought in the talent. Who cares if you've won 39 games and then fall apart in the MAAC tourney and keep losing your best talent. Parrotta was a great recruiter like Marbach. MacDonald was the logical choice but in the end he wasn't ready. Baron did make the most of what we had and there was a different level of energy around the program.

Agree. A 5ft 7 in guard from Class D is not going to put the Lady Griffs on the map. Rochester has fed the UB women for years.

You realize she's the POY from all classifications, right? And that she has played on numerous travel teams/all-star games, etc., against big-school opponents?

RW inherited a program from Baron that had played in the postseason for several years in a row and was miles ahead of the program our current WBB coach inherited from Zeh, who was mailing it in his final 2-3 years.

How about you give the guy more than 1.5 years and one recruiting class to build a program?

I would love to see the program get back to where it was when TZ took over. Mike Decillis had the Griffs on par with Marist back then so it might take several years to right the ship. I think that Scott is going to need lots more than the young lady from Franklinville to turn this program around, since his first recruiting class currently on board is unimpressive.
