Author: So tired of this noise
Subject: How about you’re energy?

Head Coach Reggie Witherspoon's Postgame Comments
"I think our energy was bad, particularly in the second half. We got in foul trouble in the first half, but our energy was just terrible."

"Our energy wasn't anywhere close to where it needs to be. [Monmouth] did a great job taking advantage of that. That's a credit to them."

"I thought early on, we had some possessions where the ball moved well and we got good shots. But there were several possessions where we got good shots and missed, or we made it, and then we jumped around and celebrated and didn't get back [on defense]. Again, our energy wasn't where it needed to be. We played a good team and credit to them. But this is not something that I am going to tolerate."

Those comments are absurd, coming from a coach who has been moribund on the bench all year. His lack of passion and enthusiasm is reflected in the body language of most of his players on the court. I feel badly for Malik Johnson ,whose last year has become such a terrible way to finish up a stellar college career.

These quotes are never really valuable but I just wish Coach Witherspoon would occasionally just say, "We were too committed to our game plan and our staff didn't make the right adjustments." "I pulled him with two fouls and should have been more trusting," "I probably didn't draw up the right play for that lineup," "My rotation didn't really work there."

I really like Reggie, and I want him to win so badly but I'm getting tired of the excuses and not being more accountable for losses.

Reggie needs to get 5 starters and stick with them. Like he had in the previous 3 years. Still time to build a little bit of confidence back in some guys. Then 3 more regulars of the bench. That leaves a couple guys for foul trouble or injury etc if that happens. Still hope, but fading fast.
