Subject: boston u cancel fall semester, ca gov says he does not foresee

any pro or college sports until 2021, this could mean the downfall of all major sports and college sports, for the future, throw in the ncaa cutting the budgets for all ncaa members, this could permanently wipe out college sports, look at pegulas cutting their staff, and you wonder when all major sports are going to stop paying the salaries of the players with no revenue coming in , right now the small people are paying the price, of course things could clear up to the point where schedules will start again, but think, would you want to be in any crowd of size if the virus is still out there?

Until science catches up with this, nothing is going to return to normal despite what we may want to happen and the revenue challenged schools, including Canisius and many of the old line catholic colleges will be hard pressed to resume sports on a division one level as previously existed, not a good time to be an administrator at any of these schools! This has the possibility of changing the whole landscape , not just of college sports but of the institutions themselves, what will enrollments etc be in the future, we would be ignorant to not consider the possibility that Canisius and many maac schools will have to totally re-invent themselves in all aspects including sports. One almost has to wonder are schools like Daeman and Dyouville more likely to be successful with their medical and career oriented programs than a basic liberal arts school like Canisius in keeping students and attracting new applicants. . I think everything will and must be on the table going forward and who we were in the past is going to have little meaning to what we will be in the future. Hopes up for a good outcome but my instincts say otherwise.

You are 100% incorrect. BU has not cancelled its fall semester. It is, smartly, making contingency plans "in the unlikely event" should that become necessary.

“The Recovery Plan recognizes that if, in the unlikely event that public health officials deem it unsafe to open in the fall of 2020, then the University’s contingency plan envisions the need to consider a later in-person return, perhaps in January 2021,” states an article posted to BU Today."

It's a pre-caution. Schools like CC can not afford this. Hopefully they can get green light and can open up on time. Go Griffs!
