Too much gloom and doom on these boards! Canisius lost 8 games by 3 points or less in conference play last year.If they split those they are the 5 seed in the Conference Tournament and have their 4th non losing season in conference play in a row. When was the last time that happened? They beat UIC by 30 on the road who went to the Horizon League Championship and played Hofstra down to the last 30 seconds who won the CAA Title. They beat St Peter’s and Siena who were 1st and 2nd in the MAAC.They neat Bonnies who finished 4th in the A-10 (albeit without their center but still a good win). They had injuries and illness which killed the depth and made young players play more than they should’ve which hopefully pays off this year. This team will have more depth than any CC team in a long time. They’ll have the versatility to play different lineups and match up better with different styles of play.I see comments about recruits and players labeled “projects and leftovers”.Which one is Beyah who was ranked the 47th best prospect in all of New England and first team All NEPSAC AA and had better offers than CC?Is the JUCO kid who started his career at DePaul a leftover?I am sure everyone has seen the kid from the Netherlands play in person! The Erie CC kid who shot over 40% from 3 and 90% from the FT line what category does he go in? I looked in the record books and it was 24 years before CC finished 1st or 2nd in the MAAC until RW arrived but lets get rid of him because there’s been so much success before.Thank God a previous coach had a son who could play or the drought would be a lot worse. This team will be picked low but has the potential I think to surprise. The two big question marks are Hitchon and White. You need your seniors to be playing their best basketball. If just one of them shows up consistently it could be a good year.A lot of the best talent is going to be around (hopefully) for a few years so the future looks bright.I am cautiously optimistic.

The coronavirus onslaught has been mismanaged from the get go. Early warnings were completely ignored; no semblance of a national policy exists, abuse of preventative or containment initiatives per healthcare officials has been completely ignored, and they have even been ridiculed by Trump. The predicted "second wave" of coronavirus due to negligence is now upon us. It is like we didn't learn a thing and that scholarship and facts no longer matter.

I 'spect all schools will cancel fall sports and basketball won't start until January with league games only. Regrettable and totally preventable.

Football, other teams won't play because of coronavirus pandemic
.
RPI football coach Ralph Isernia warned his returning seniors last March this day might come.

The coronavirus pandemic had just struck, putting an end to the hockey team’s playoff run and ending the undefeated softball team’s season after just a dozen games.....

We also have a coaching staff and team that can’t close out games. Let’s see that’s why we play the games.

If we have a season, I feel good about it. Watched almost every game last season and there were plenty of bright spots - and some bad luck. There were some performances that were flat out bad, but overall I am OK with giving Reggie a final year to show he can be competitive in the MAAC (if we have a season)

I'm a griff for life, so I'll always hope for the best

but i really want an upgraded field house and improved marketing and students / alumni / fan engagement efforts.

I felt "cautiously optimistic" last season at this time. Then-BUMMER. Now not so much. I agree on the engagement efforts or lack there of, the coaching staff is MIA on that score, and that goes with their job. Do any fans really know any of these guys, Reggie included?

St. Peter CANISIUS pray for us (not to be confused with the first Pope).

The Griffs need to put together a larger plan for athletics. This shows recruits, alums & fans that we want more vs. what we have. Right now the school has to steer through this COVID mess and stay afloat. Every college / university is feeling the pinch. St. Peter pray for us. Go Griffs!
