Enrollment going forward is obviously the most important aspect by far of our continued viability, I assume it is a daily discussion point at the college and I agree that our curriculum and possibly our overall philosophy need revision, who you were in the past means nothing today, we can be proud of the schools history but we will not survive without change, we can look down on D'Youville and Daeman and others but the reality is that the curriculum they now offer is more appealing to many students and families than a liberal arts education at a higher cost. Canisius grew with the local catholic population which probably reached its high point in the 1960's, it was always a commuter school, not reliant on large percentages of resident students and it never had the resident school reputation of even a Bona or Niagara, so the challenge to now attract students from all over is a daunting challenge in a very competitive environment. The decline of student populations and the catholic ethic in our area mandates that Canisius changes, only hope it's not already to late!

Believe me many of us have pushed the school to look at what Daemen & D’Youville has done with the physicians assistant program. We missed the boat because of pure ignorance and not listening. Well it’s time for the Board of Regents to get their head out of sand and expand their mindset. For me too many of those members are stuck in the past. Wake up, WNY is a nice place but we need to attract more kids outside of the 716. Go Griffs!

Not to nit pic, but the Board of Regents is advisory only. The Board of Trustees is the decision making group.
