I don't believe it should be solely up to the coach how the basketball team engages current students and alum, the athletic department should add the appropriate staff to better support and promote the program and build a relationship with fans. There are weaker DII and DIII programs with a more passionate following, even with a weaker product. It's about marketing, engagement and community - the head coach should be focusing on recruiting and development, which then makes everyone else's job better if they are successful.

Also an upgraded field house would not hurt.

We can do so much better. Siena is the role model for the MAAC to follow. They do a terrific job locally. I don't want to hear that this is a pro sports town. When you win and market people will begin to follow you. Go Griffs.

I honestly don't know a ton about how Siena operates and markets, but I know the Buffalo region is full of passionate sports fans. Focusing resources on men and womens hoops and hockey will be the key to athletic success for this school, but academics do need to come first.
