Subject: Where's the Griffins?

There's a couple of local college hoops stories in the Buffalo Snooze this morning. One is a nice piece about a Daemen recruit from O'Hara and the other about the uncertainties of the upcoming season. Mike MacDonald is quoted in both stories and the coaches from three of the Big Four schools are in the other story. Guess whose not there. What's up with that?

They make no effort to connect with the media, fans or alums. Our former coach is getting more press than our current coach. Terrible decision, I’m ready for a change.

Unfortunately, this seems like only a small concern in the context of the big picture of what's been developing at the College over the last several years, IMO. There was a letter to the editor, also the other day, from a faculty member at Marist (PhD),apparently a CC alumnus, expressing great concern about the state of affairs. Do The Powers That Be even read the Editorial page? Do they read what's posted here? Do they care? Someone over there should be reaching out to those of us who do care with some real info about what's going on as a whole and what's being done about it beyond dropping academic courses and firing profs.. How large is the incoming Freshman class, what is the total enrollment, what are they trying to do to make Science Hall into what it was originally intended to be, what is the future of Golden Griffin athletics, etc.,etc.,etc.?

All of your areas of inquiry have been growing problems for years, if we could not gain control of them in the past we're not likely to do so under a pandemic atmosphere. Also wondering about Dennis Misko, is he still in his position, he has been silent on the coach"s circle since the shutdown which i find troubling if he's not around any more.

We need the following to be successful in the athletics space:

long term vision
improvement of facilities
investment - especially in men's basketball
expanding of MBB support staff
expanding of marketing + social media staff
work closely with various sports programs at school
engage donors and alumni to generate revenue
free tickets and invest in fan section

If you can't get students to come for games for free and be part of the in-game experience as undergrad, highly unlikely they come back to donate as alumms

Dennis has been furloughed. Hope he’s back soon as he is one bright spot in alumni relations

Let’s hope it’s just short term.

Can't believe that they would let Dennis go. His position at the College was in fund raising, and as a former player he also was closely involved with Basketball. What ever happened with annual giving? I realize that Covid 19 has created huge problems for the College, but I think reaching out to alums who really care should be a priority. Go Griffs!!!!
