Thanks, Griff for posting the Class of 2020 in uniform. IMO they're and interesting and promising group. I know I've been posting sort of doom and gloom about what appears to be going on at Alma Mater recently, especially in the context of my adventures with my Niece. She just received her first marking period grades at one of our top high schools and, as usual, knocked it out of the park. All A's except for a B in Feminist Literature or something like that. All the rest A's in really challenging Science and Math courses. As I've posted recently we think that's where her grad school future is. That's why I believe CC is the perfect place for her to grow as an under graduate, both academically and socially, given the experiences so many of us have had there. Some have posted here about their life-long friendships and solid educations. Not to mention our Med. School acceptance rate. The fresh young faces in Griff jerseys should remind us all of that. So let's hope that The Powers That Be read Voy from time to time and revisit the place that Canisius holds in Buffalo and the importance of keeping it up there. Men's Basketball played a very important role in establishing that and now our standing as a D1 college separates CC from the rest of the pack. What the College needs now IMO ( as soon as the Covid-14 clouds go away) is a Demske-Cooke style fund raising campaign to pay for finishing Science Hall and building a first class Events Center. We can do this. Let's go Griffs! P.S. St.Peter Canisius--- ( we need a lot of that too).

We passed on your feedback about the physical plant to some members of the Board of Regents. Let’s see what happens.

UB is not playing the Griffs or Niagara this year. Hope they lose every game this year.

Amen to all of this.

A better science program. Retooling the academic programs to better position student for academic success and an investment in an athletic center will go a long way.

Then hopefully we can see more money get poured into basketball so we can grow the staff and the program so it can become a respectable mid-major program in WNY.

None of it works if people don't step up and donate. It costs Athletics $25 to test one student-athlete for coronavirus. They do the tests three times a week. Start there: https://app1.canisius.edu/canisiusfund/

It's nice to hear that others are paying attention. IMO if Canisius can fund those two important projects a meaningful increase in enrollments should follow, especially if The Powers That Be can polish up the curriculum while keeping a liberal arts core and our Jesuit tradition. Why are our friends at the university in the bucolic Southern Tier growing its' enrollment while ours is shrinking during a significant period of growth in a vibrant city? If we can do this, the Griffs can really get going. Alma Mater should be a player in what's going on in Buffalo these days- Albright-Knox, Seneca One, Statler City, Larkinville, etc.

Canisius needs to stop looking to attract the local kids. Provide an offering of majors which are future focused and bring students from outside the 716 or New York State. Buffalo is making a comeback and Canisius needs to be a part of the resurgence. Go Griffs!

Agreed. One way to do that is to recruit students from other areas where there is a Jesuit H.S. Having coached at a Jesuit H.S, one thing Jesuit H.S students do, is STRONGLY look at Jesuit Colleges/Universities.

SBU and Siena, sister schools and Franciscan, stability and growth are both due to one thing: the academic return on their athletic investment, period.

Now is the time to invest and grow, not cut back and to advance your (and NU, too) academic brand, IMO.

"Keep do'n what you're do'n and you'll keep gett'n what your gett'n." This ain't rocket science.
