Subject: Another hypothetical question: hoops vs hockey

Since this board is a little quiet lately. Another hypothetical:

Would you rather Canisius have a consistently ranked top 10 D2 basketball program or a consistently ranked top 25 D1 hockey program?

You could also sub in the following for hockey:

men's lacrosse
baseball
soccer

I wouldn't pay attention to either. Could never field a top 25 baseball team at a small school in the northeast.

If the Griffs ever went D2 or D3,in any sport, especially MBB, I would never see them play again. Case closed.

with this covid virus you might never see them play again, i don't know every college in the country but there is a good chance cc leads the country in the least games played in m&w bb, and mens hockey, it's been over a month since they have played, you wonder if they are going to ever play again in 2021, who is this one individual who is causing all sports to pause, it seems like most if all maac teams have played 10 or more games, as someone posted bball has to play at least 13 games to qualify for the maac tourney, as of now what are the odds that 7 bball games can be played in feb considering the next games are scheduled 2-12-13?

CC men’s bball has played 6 games. Iona has played 4.

Personally, I rather have a dominant D2 college basketball program and D1 hockey program than what we have now.

Honestly, over the last 4 years ,we have recruited more than our share of D2 caliber players. We are fortunate that we do not play UB or Bona this year. They would destroy us. Superior athletes and more of them. You can pretend we would be competitive. So get a better coaching/recruiting staff and build a serious mid level D1 Program, or go D2. But if they do the latter, I will not be there.

Without our DI b-ball program, Canisius would forfeit its history as a small Jesuit college that competed well among the big, heavily financed institions in major college basketball. And this alum would lose his interest in promoting my school.

Canisius and the Little Three benefitted from a geographically convenient location, a large arena, and a lack of pro sports options.

Those days are gone. If you want to bring back the glory days, we all have to find ways to bring in more donors, season ticket holders, and dollars.

We need to do better. We’re not on the right track with this staff.
