Do they solicit gifts in other targeted days? How do those efforts go? How much of our high school's gifts are large challenge gifts? What percentage of alumni participate? What's the average gift size?

Um, $50K, 2022. This is just a dream, right?

Son of a gun! I didn't see that. When and in what paper? Maybe The Powers That Be are planning something after all. $50M could finish Science Hall as it was intended to be. Will the $35M as estimated for that still be enough? IMO as originally described after the property was purchased and the plans were published, it would be a magnet for science an premed students. Some of the additional $$ should go to some some creative P.R. In the meantime, back to Hoops. In this strange MAAC season, Reggie and staff have done a remarkable job. But more interaction with the alumni and fans would help, IMO. P.S.will more info be coming from T.P.T.B.?

Obviously, my HS was not local to Buffalo....and, yes there were some major gifts on Giving Day (a match to all contributions) and for the Capital Campaign ($5 million from a Hong Kong resident) among others. It's a great school with numerous highly successful graduates but here's my point. Through four States and a dozen different addresses and long (decades) before the internet I received numerous yearly contacts from the school....Capital Campaigns, Giving Day, Galas & Dances, Silent Auctions, Reunions, educational and sporting event news....you name it, they communicated it to alumni, parents, friends and family....they keep track of (almost} everyone. In contrast, for CC Giving Day I didn't know it was happening until it was over; team twitter account posts are infrequent or nearly dormant. So draw your own conclusions as to what the problem is and what the solution is!

Did I say $50K? I meant $50M.

According to this article, the school is operating at a $20 million deficit too.

In the meantime Niagara's impressive ads on TV are siphoning off potential new students, while D'Youville is expanding across the West Side and Daemen is doing the same on suburban Main Street. Alma Mater is in big trouble, and The Powers That Be appear to be clueless. In our otherwise vibrant City, I wonder how many real estate developers are eyeing about five sizeable parcels of land on Main Street between Florida Street and Humboldt Parkway and nearby West Delavan Avenue for demolition and construction of fine new apartment complexes reasonably close to the Medical Campus. At Main and Jefferson someone is fiddling as the conflagration approaches, and it's not Nero. Where is Jesuit leadership these days? Saint Peter, can you save us?

As a separate news item for Griff's and Griffs followers who might have been following the adventures of The Niece in the college admissions process that BfloGriff has included in some of his rantings since last fall, this is probably the final installment. She applied to several colleges and universities, including CC. She was awarded significant scholarships at each one. I think the only one she hasn't heard from yet is the only Ivy League school on her list. But she withdrew that application when she accepted early enrollment to her "Dream School". It is an expensive place, but the wonderful scholarship they awarded her makes it possible for her to go there. I think another Jesuit school on her list was probably her second choice. BfloGriff is proud of her academic achievements and impressive list of acceptances.
