It was not always so at Gonzaga.

The success of the basketball program has fostered tremendous growth, both enrollment-wise and financially. Thirty years ago GU wasn't what it is today, by a long shot.

Plus (having been there many times) GU has a much bigger physical footprint than CC. It had room to grow in one location, unlike CC. Having to expand across Main Street (a real physical barrier) and on Main toward downtown break up the CC campus. The KAC and Dempske fields do not feel like campus proper.

That said, a program that consistently competes for NCAA tournament berths would raise our profile considerably, with commensurate enrollment/financial reward. It's past time for Maher to pull the trigger on Reggie.
