Yes, Gonzaga has excellent coaching and is very fortunate Mark Few has stayed so long. Almost anyone else would have bolted for the "big time" after several successful years, like Monson did.

A couple more things that help Gonzaga, in addition to being the largest university in a relatively isolated metropolitan area:

* There are no pro teams in Spokane. They don't have to compete with the Bills and Sabres. In Spokane, they ARE the Bills.

* Their state's public flagship university is not located in Spokane. They don't have a UB to compete with.

That said, the key is coaching. We need a new one.
