Subject: impending doom for mid and low majors

there are around 350 div 1 programs and around 4600 ships, as of 4:30 pm 2-2-21 vc reports 1177 players in the transfer portal 26% of all div 1 are considering transferring since there are 5 more months until 21-22 school starts it could easily surpass 1500 or more and be who knows 35-50% of all players, and think if the no sit out rule is made permanent, i will mention one player at mid-major kee kee clarke who averaged between 25-30 points as a frosh, he would never be a soph at st petes, right not the elite conferences are using low and mids as the minor leagues and as soon as they show promise boom elite schools sweep in, statistics show that the vast percentage of upward transfers basically flame out and do not get as much time or success as they had at the lower level, of course there are exceptions, also you can bet the elites would love to see 1 and 1a just like football, they do not want to share the tv money, also something that i'm sure many of you are not aware of is the us supreme court( 9 justices) today is hearing a case that would give many more monetary and non-monetary benefits to college athletes, and early indications are that conservative and liberal justices seem sympathetic to that case, of course a vote is months away, however consider the implications if the justices rule in favor of the athletes,,, athletic budgets spiraling out of control for the vast majority of div 1 programs, i do not know if this case involves every college and juco in the usa the costs to have athletic programs would be so prohibitive that many sports would have to be dropped, remember ub a few years ago dropped a few cc dropped fb and synchronized swimming and many other colleges dropped many of the non-revenue sports, basically only the elite could afford the extra costs
