Subject: Kiddrell Blocker

A Rochester kid d we were among the first to offer a couple years ago has spurned us and committed to UB. Need to do better in closing the deal with kids who others want.

He was never coming to Canisius. Was going to the biggest arena that offered him from day one. Thinks he's a pro. Bailed on Lanier at Georgia St. under what I've heard were shady circumstances. The kid can play and will likely be very good at UB but is high maintenance.

Yep. Basically, "shady" and "UB" are synonymous these days. It's no secret around the northeast and midwest that the Bulls openly wheel and deal. Blocker's about-face with Georgia State had UB's fingerprints all over it. One of my pretty well connected sources in the area texted me after the de-commitment, "He will go to UB."

Interesting; UB signs a 2* recruit and the Buffalo Snooze wakes up with some good pub for the Bulls. CC signs a 3* guy and we get- not so much. Daemen got more pub when Mike MacDonalds' son, Nick, transferred down to play for his dad.Griffs Nation as a whole needs to snap out of it right now! We're Melting!!!(Actually the News sports coverage has gotten much better since our two favorite columnists were let go, IMO).

How has the News sports coverage gotten better? They are not even printing Bisons box scores or standings! Also have stopped publishing H.S. scores in all sports, unless they write a feature on a game. Proof reading no longer exists. Bills/Sabres/UB coverage is extensive. Griffs have become an afterthought.

Sure, the school could probably do more to promote our programs, but it shouldn't be a surprise to see an article on any Canisius team. Those articles are so infrequent these days, it now is.

The Buffalo News is currently operating on a skeleton staff because of financial reasons, and I'm sure that is the reason Canisius athletics is seldom mentioned. To get something in print the College has to write a story, submit it to paper, and hope it ends up published. Matt R. is probably the guy who writes the stuff on CC that appears in the News. It looks like things are not going to change, so the Griffs will have to carry on with little help from the local daily. Go Griffs!!!

UB announced Blocker's signing. Canisius has not announced Jackson's signing. That's why Blocker's appeared in the News.

If it were not for this site, I would not know Canisius even has a basketball team. This is a true “disconnect”. Coaches Circle, alumni, season ticket holders. It doesn’t matter. There is NO attempt to keep any of us in the loop. NOTHING. It is pathetic. And they want support?

[> [> Re: Kiddrell Blocker -- Why doesn't the program use social media?, Wed, June 09 2021, 13:31:51

Instagram, Facebook, Twitter the basketball office has them but not much is done with them. For a school which has a digital arts program you would never know it. Bring one of these kids over for an internship and get to it. Bona & UB does a great job in this area.

Is Digital Arts still in the curriculum?

Sad, but all that you said is true. Time to fire and hire.
