The Canisius Golden Griffins not only need to adopt the old Griffs logo. They need to fix the gold jersey back to Griffs like the old Griffs Ray Hall years style uniforms to regional Canisius more they adopted those jerseys when the Buffalo Braves left Buffalo. White for home, Royal blue for away get rid of the navy we never were navy we are royal blue with the Canisius preferably Canisius in block lettering which should be permanent. The Canisius script letter is terrible it screams losing and Reggie Witherspoon. The Gold as the alternate like the Ray Hall jersey should also be permanent. Then if Canisius wants the players to design a fourth jersey fine whatever. Sell the Gold replica’s I would buy some for my whole family as gifts. The Griffs floor needs to mention Buffalo at the baseline or somewhere on the floor so people watching these games on ESPN+ from out of town even know we play in Buffalo. Recruits need to know where this school is located. I don’t get how people in charge at Canisius College can’t figure that out? Not everybody knows where Canisius College is. We want more students we need to change our local thinking in my opinion. Go Griffs! Let’s Go Buffalo

The Griffs will be using this as well as some other logos & graphics. This logo was used back in the 80's and many alums have pushed for the department to bring back the "vintage" logo. Most colleges with athletics just like the pros know the power of marketing their brands with multiple logos & brandmarks. Nice to see the Griffs are listening. PS: They're not going to mention Buffalo in their branding or uniforms.

Awesome to hear. I just wish the griffin was actually yellow to reflect the nickname more precisely. Still, it’s awesome to see this classic logo used in place of the late 90s clip art most of the school still uses.

To do what you’re saying they would need to make the ball orange and the Griffin gold. It can be done but I like the silhouette in white. The real fix needs to be done around the word mark. It’s too dated.

Well if not using Buffalo any where in it’s sports branding is some sort of Canisius College alum pride thing or something to celebrate we can agree to disagree because it isn’t. Using Buffalo would be smart of Canisius College since Canisius College is the only school of the Buffalo Big Four Division I basketball schools to actually has there home basketball games in the city of Buffalo. Canisius College basketball is so far gone it probably won’t matter at the end of the day so whatever. Can speak for myself I don’t see Canisius or Niagara ever really changing in my lifetime which is fine St Bonaventure and UB did so two out of four schools aren’t bad. Letting the few advantages that Canisius College has over St Bonaventure Bonnies especially slip through our fingers isn’t smart it is so Canisius College just really sad. Again Canisius College has lost it’s Western New York fan base if not lost maybe a better word or way of looking at it we put Canisius College basketball in the attic with trunks of things we once used or loved but we moved onto something else like St Bonaventure Bonnies and UB Bulls but we don’t want to throw out so we still watch but we really don’t expect as much of Canisius and Niagara anymore so we moved on that is reality for both Canisius and Niagara basketball today in Western New York. Again just telling it like it is today a lot of the Buffalo fans have moved on because Canisius and Niagara basketball just wouldn’t or couldn’t for whatever reasons be bothered changing for the changing of the taste of the Buffalo sports fan in my opinion. Go Griffs! Let’s Go Buffalo

One of the many reasons I'm impressed with President Stoute is that he's already authentically engaging with Buffalo, particularly the East Side.

Throwing 716 or Nickel City, etc. on a jersey or logo is temporary. President Stoute wants authentic, long-term engagement and he's putting in the work to make it happen.

IMO President Steve and First Lady Alison will become movers and shakers in our burgeoning City of Buffalo, to the benefit of Canisius College (a Jesuit University).

You're certainly putting a lot of pressure on this guy and hopefully he can have a bit of impact but no recruit on the planet cares about the Jesuit school thing.

The same Princeton Review that did not include Canisius College in the top 655 colleges that they considered “academically outstanding and well worth your consideration in your college search?” Both Niagara and St. Bonaventure were included in the list.

He's not being specific to basketball. He's talking about the new president's (and his wife's) impact on the entire university. And many alums care deeply about the Jesuit affiliation.

Pressure? Who, Buffalo Griff? According to "Authentic engagement" Steve is already out doing what he said what he wanted to do. As far as the "Jesuit School" thing is concerned, it's not about "recruits", it's about getting the word out there about who we are and attracting students. Sounds like it's part of "Authentic Engagement". Hmmmm?

Actually not that crazy. The punctuation, run on sentences,video boards, screwed in floors, 8k seat arena, and thought process - those things are nuts - but SMU is doing exactly this with the city of Dallas.
