You enter a large dance hall. On one end is a bar with tables seated all around. On the other end are large pillars, creating mystifying shadows in the light. In the center is a dance floor made of ornate marble and stone. The rest of the room is stone and marble as well. You see creatures carrying on and having a good time. On a sign on the door it says:

THE LATEST RESULTS FROM MY POLLS

Girl 11,12yo, gynecologic and puberty assesment at home

I am female. It happened in Eastern Europe in 1980-1989 as 11 year old and 12 years old. My step-dad told me a doctor was coming to our house to give me a physical exam. I'd just started puberty and he said the exam was required by school. I was told to take a bath before the doctor arrived. I was given an enema and I was dressed in my pajamas. I was also told the exam would be thorough and different from others I'd had. The exam occurred at home.

This exam was set up by my step-father so I was the only one to have the exam. The exam was conducted in our kitchen with just my step-father the doctor and myself.

ARRANGEMENTS

A soft blanket was placed on the kitchen table and I laid on it for parts of the exam. Two chairs were placed at each the end of the table to support my legs for part of the exam. I got a traditional enema before the exam to clean out my stomach.

I was placed to lay on my back with my legs flexed up spread and mounted upon the two chairs. I did not get any anesthesia apart from lubricating and numbing cream into my vagina.

BREAST EXAM

After the normal parts of the exam I was required to take off my pajama top (I didn't wear a bra at that time).

The doctor looked at my breast which were very tiny at that time and then felt them with his hands. He did this with me standing and again while lying on my back.

ANAL EXAM

I was allowed to put my top back on, then told to remove my pajama pants and panties.

I was placed on my hands and knees on the table with my head down and bottom up. My temperature was taken in my bottom.

After that the doctor looked closely at my anal area inserted a finger and felt around for a bit then used a small scope to look inside. They took specimens from my anus with a tube.

My step-father was watching all this very closely. He also asked the doctor to spread my vulva in this position for a look at my openings and hymen.

GYNECOLOGICAL EXAMINATION

My position was changed so that I was lying on my back on the kitchen table (with the blanket under me). My bottom was placed at the edge of the table and the chairs were placed so that my feet could rest on them. Again I was nude from the waist down and my legs were wide apart. An exam light was set up so my female area was well lit. The doctor did an extensive examination of my outer labia by looking and feeling with his fingers. He applied a lot of clear lubricant to my vaginal opening so that he could insert a finger. It hurt too much so he couldn't. Instead he inserted a finger into my bottom and felt around for quite some time.

He had a very small scope like a tube with a handle that he inserted into my vagina. It hurt a little but I was able to stay in place. The scope was lighted so I'm sure he saw everything he needed to see. My step-dad also looked inside and commented on how my cervix was.

TEST OF PHYSIOLOGICAL REACTIONS

The next part was less medical. My top was removed so that I was completely nude. I was told that the last part was to see if my reproductive system was developing normally and without problems. (My step-dad had caught me masturbating twice before). My step-dad was told to use lotion on my chest and to rub my breasts to see if there was a response. The doctor continued to look at my vulva. The result was positive I began breathing harder and I did become wet. After drying my vulva off and allowing me to recover the doctor proceeded to rub different parts of my vulva to look for a response.

Almost everything he did resulted in my becoming excited. I was eventually allowed to dress for bed. My step-dad was told that I was developing normally and that I had well developed sexual response. He was given a tube of cream and told to run it into my vulva if I had any redness or soreness.

ARRANGEMENT AFTER THE EXAM

I went to bed. A bit sore the next morning. My step-dad used the cream on me several times a week. My temperature was always taken rectally so I was comfortable with him doing it. Usually after my bath. I'd either be place over his lap bottom exposed so he could apply the cream or on my hands and knees....with my bottom up. I had several more exams like the one I described during the next two years.

THE SCHOOL I ATTENDED

I went to some other type of school. I attended a private school where gifted children went and also participate in gymnastics.

COMMENTS

It is probably true that the exam was required by the school. The stepfather had probably got the obligation to watch for development signs and to report those, so that the exam could be done at the right time. The interest the stepfather showed was also probably because of that obligation.

Many societies subject children to such exams at certain development steps, and especially schools with gymnastics at the curriculum, because these schools tend to regulate the development of kids to be the best possible for copetition results. The tests of sexual reactions also seem to have that purpose.

The fact that the exam was done at home, was probably because they examined many kids this way, and they tried to overcome as many as possible in a short time, and with as little costs as possible.

Even though the things done was probably of order from the school, the doctor and stepfather might still have chosen a style of conducting it that gave them sexual gratification.

Girl, 13yo, North America, combined psychological and pelvic assessments

I am a female. This happened in North America 5 times in the late 1980es and beginning of 1990es, first time when I was 13 years old. I was examined in a health centre, taken there by mom in her car. A psychiatrist did the exam with my mom helping. Several other persons were also present in the waiting room.

OVERVIEW OF THE EXAMINATIONS PERFORMED

They examined my genitals. They did a general examination of my pelvic zones. They performed a psychological exam. They made interrogations about my social relations and my daily life.

They also spent a lot of time looking at my feet and toenails.

ARRANGEMENTS

I was totally naked. I was very embarrassed to be naked in front of the psychiatrist and my mom

THE EXAM STEP BY STEP

Right in the waiting room my mom pulled my dress off and took my sandals. The room was half full Then waited several minutes, then brought me to the exam room. Then held my arms and legs so the psychiatrist could see all of my body openly. They then took measurements of my arms and legs, breasts land labia with photos. Thereafter did a full pelvic exam. They also did a breast exam.

I was placed out in the waiting room again naked and told not to cover myself.

JUDGEMENT

What do you think was the reason for this exam? I think because I told my mom I didn't want to wear sandals or let people see my feet What is your opinion about thios experience? I can't believe how many people saw me totally naked!

GENITAL AND URINARY EXAM

They did not examine my urinary system. They palpated my outer female genitals. They spread my genital lips to look inside. They also asked me to masturbate so they could collect a fluid sample but I was too embarrassed.

They spread my cheeks and examined extarnelly my rectal zone.

PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAM

The psychological part covered a lot of weird subjects. I can't even talk about it all.

FOLLOW-UPS

New exams as follow up please specify: I was brought to this same clinic 5 more times over 3 years Psychological or social counceling as follow up: each exam seemed to spend more time focusing on my changing body and how I felt about it. Other kind of follow-up: mom started coming in my room a lot while I was changing saying she needed to see my body.

COMMENTS

It looks like this exam sequence was an investigation of possible sexual abuse of the girl or participation of the girl in abusive bahavior with other children.

From that time and onwards there have been massive campains going on towards parents telling that any unusual behavior was sign of abusive relationships, and parents were told to report.

But this grossly exaggerated propaganda also seem to have the purpose to get as many children reported as possible, so that they can be used in research projects. It looks that this also was a research project regarding the connection between body development and psychological reactions.

The ages of the people in the waiting room are not told, but these were probably observers from the project, the child protective services and the police that made their notes.

If there were children in the waiting room, however, they were probably examined likewise in other rooms, but somebody surely observed how the naked children bahved together.

The mother also seems to have got involved as a helper in the project.

Over and over again there are reports that authorities investigating child abuse bring children into embarrassing situations as a part of the investigation to get results, and this is just one more of these cases. It always looks like they care more for the intergrity of the social framework of society, than for the wellfare of the child.

Girl 10yo, North America, pediatric gynecology exam for research and teach

I am female. It happened in North America. 1990-1999 10 years old Nothing was said more then that I had a check up booked. My parents drove me to the exam. Other type of place. Other selection criteria. It was a clinic exam room / theatre type place in a university.

PREPARATIONS AND ANESTHESIA

I was not allowed to eat some time before the exam. I got a traditional enema before the exam to clean out my stomach. I mostly only had my underwear on the time I stayed awake. I had to take all my clothes off just before I got anesthesia. They placed me upon an advanced surgical table. I was placed to lay on my back with my legs flexed up spread and mounted upon two devices.

I got IVs tubes into blood vessels in an arm. I got a device on a finger or a toe to measure pulse and oxygen in my blood. I got a blood pressure monitor wrapped around an arm or a toe.

I got electrodes on my cheast. I got a tube or wire in through my urethra. I got anesthesia through tubes into my blood vessels. I got anesthesia gas to breath in through a mask. I got some numbing and lubricating cream injected into my urinary opening. The anesthesia made me relaxed but I was conscious. The anesthesia made me sleep mostly but I woke up occationally.

ARRANGEMENTS AFTERTHE EXAM

I had IVs into blood vessels. I had electrodes on my body. I had catheter into my bladder. I lay naked under a blanket after the exam. Given hospital disposable panties with a thick pad to wear.

THE SCHOOL I ATTENDED

I attended ordinary daytime school.

COMMENTS

This was a standard pediatric gynecology examintion, but probably combined with a cystoscopy and a sigmoidoscopy during the time she was not awake.

The purpose seems to be research and teaching of students. Her parents possibly got money for letting the douhgter be used this way, or free medical services. The EEG might also be for teaching. Of course the ordeal also served as a health check that many kids in that age go through in sertain societiesm but very little spoken about.

I am a male. I was a teenager. Year 2000 or after. In western Europe. I was examined at school. School nurse along with community doctor did the exam.

Who was also present during the exam? our class.

OVERVIEW OF THE EXAMINATION

They examined my head teeth or jaws. They did an orthopedic exam. They examined the organs inside my chest. They examined my organs inside my stomach. They examined my genitals. They examined my rectal zone. They did a general examination of my pelvic zones.

They inserted instruments into my mouth. They inserted instruments into my urinary opening, some tube. They performed a neurologic exam with electrodes on my body. They performed an electrocardiogram of my heart. They performed a exam with electrodes on my head.

They performed a full functional test of my breathing heart and blood circulation under workload.

They performed a psychological exam. They made interrogations about my social relations and my daily life.
They took x-rays of the examined areas. They took tomographic x-ray scans of the examined areas. They took MMR-scans of the examined areas. They took ultrasound pictures of the examined areas.

They scanned the examined areas after injection of a radioactive isotope or contrast fluid. They examined my blood vessels or heart with a catheter inserted into a blood vessel.

ARRANGEMENTS AND ANESTHESIA

I was given sadative or pain-killing medicines through my mouths. I was sedated but awake. I was naked at the examined body parts and at my genital/rectal zone but elsewere clothed.

My positions during the exam: mostly lying on my back on exam table.

THE EXAMINATION TEP BY STEP

First they had me swollow pill that made my body all relaxed. Them lifted me up on table and undressed me. Thereafter they restrained my arms to table in case i'd accidently whip around. Then examined my body parts including genitalia. Then they inserted the tube thing into my urethra. They also photographed every procedure/test.

The exam ended by putting my clothes back on while asking me social and private questions.

JUDGEMENT

What do you think was the reason for this exam? was scary at the time but quite exciting to look back on. What is your opinion about this experience? totally fine.

DETAILS ABOUT THE URINARY AND GENITAL EXAM

They used a catheter to collect urine. I do not remember exactly how they further examined my urinary system but they did something down there.

They palpated my outar male genitals and testicles. They perormed a ultrasound exam on my genitals including my testicles. They collected a semen specimen by means of prostate massage through my rectum. They examined my prostate with an ultrasound sond into my anus. They palpated my prostate with a finger into my rectum.

DETAILS ABOUT TEH RECTAL EXAM

They spread my cheeks and examined extarnally my rectal zone. They examined my rectum with an inserted finger. They inserted a speculum into my anus to examine it internally. They took some measurements inside my rectum or bowel with a long tube-like instrument.

Nothing real weird happened. Other kind of follow-up:

COMMENTS

This is basically a standard procedure that all or many kids in selected communities go through at specific age levels but it seems that it was extended with certain procedures for research, for example scan after injecting isotopes and MMR.

It seems like a specialist team had established a preliminary clinic in localities in the scool and brought equipment with them and thereafter they probably moved to another school.

The community doctor and the school nurse were there propbably most as helpers , and other specialists did the exam, but due to anesthesia they are probably not well remembered.

The urinary exam was probably a cystosopy. The instrument inserted through his anus to take specimens and measurements was probably a sigmoidoscope.

Even though the procedures were intrusive, they was performed in a gently way, apparently, that did not cause pain even though he was motsly awake.

The x-rays and isotope scan were not any good things, though, since they can cause harmful effects that last.

Girl 12yo Eastern Europe Cystoscopy at school for research

My doughter had cystoscopy. The exam took place in Eastern Europe when she was 12 years old in the period 2000-2004. She had cystoscopy in the doctor's or nurse's office at school.

PREPARATIONS

We got an accurate explanation of what should be done and the reason. They took vitals like temperature, heart rate and blood pressure. A doctor came, asked questions and explained. A consent formula was presented and signed.

She got lubricating and pain-killing fluid inserted in through her urethra, and got a shot to calm down and make sleepy. She had gown around her but the lower body was naked. She lay on back with legs in stirrups.

HOW THE PROCEDURE WAS DONE

They put a flexible snake-like cystoscope in through the urethra. Other additional exams.

REASONS AND JUDGEMENT

The procedure was a part of a research project. It was not any big deal.

COMMENTS

Cystoscopy and other pelvic inspections are so common in the preteen period that most children experience it in many societiesm both girlsd and boys. Frequent reasons are screening for diseases and abormalities, research about development, researching frequency of diseases and microbes in the young population and screening for sexual abuse or disappoved sexual habits.

The responder indicated other additional exams. It is highly possible that they also inspected her vagina and anus too, or used ultrasound probes through her anus and at her stomach, since cystoscopy alone seems somewhat incomplete for such a research project, but that she did not recognize it clearly because she was sleepy from the anesthesia.

These procedures are not painful or disstressful if performed gently and with analgesic lubridation and some calming medication, as also indicated by the responder. General anesthesia are seldom necessary by these procedures, but still this is often used.

It seems however that the girl got so much sedative medicine that it was difficult to rememember, which often is the main purpose of this medication.

So I was on a bus, headed to a footy game the other day and saw someone reading Redwall. He was reading an older copy, you know the old green one, busy artwork and all? not the new, purple one. And I was all **grabby hands** at him, but it turns out he was reading it to make sure it was okay for his kid (I assured him no childhood was complete with out Redwall!). But it made me miss you all, and I don't really know what it is that has been making just about everyone I know in fandom so nostalgic, but dear gods, have we been. I miss you guys. I miss ITW. I miss bad graphics and slow forum loads and everyone hanging out for hours (even if we were on dial up!) and I miss Sali and Camp Willow and Mossflower Treetops. Hell, I'll even admit to missing expages. And I am not sure what it is about the Redwall fandom that makes me miss it more than any other fandom, even fandoms that have mostly disappeared as well. Maybe it's that we were all so young and trusting, or that I was in this fandom for so long. But regardless, I miss it! So I would like to second (or third, or fourth) a grand reunion of us. I know some people from back in the day still, kept in touch with a few and became RL friends even, and facebook friends with more, but I am betting that there is a large portion of you I wont remember until I see your name here (as such happened with Windpaw's post below). So, you know. We should do this!

(And in my mind, a young otter maid scuttles across the hall, a hare bounding at her side and squirrel racing after, the three good friends. They make their way out and down to a river bank, where more otters and squirrels and even a badger wait, ready to play and laugh the day away, reeds in paw.)

Oh wow. I heard today that Brian Jacques died, and I thought about how Redwall used to be my fandom, and how I would spend a lot of time as a twelve year old on the Salamandastron Dance! That was twelve years ago! I stopped rping after InsideTheWeb went away, and reading this one brings a lot of memories.

The door to the old dance hall starts to open with a protesting creak, then sticks fast. A few grunts resound on the other side of the door as the beast attempting to enter throws herself against it several times. Finally, it's forced open enough for the little albino hare to squeeze in.

Mattia stops and looks around the room sadly. Garbage litters the floor, many windows are broken, and everything of value has long since been stripped away. A layer of dust coats everything, leading the albino to believe the obvious.

No one has been here in ages.

Slowly, she trails a paw across one of the remaining tables and blinks back the tears from her eyes. Once, this place had been full of life and fun, day and night. Beasts from all walks of life gathered her. Fighting, drinking, dancing, but mostly fighting.

She remembered her many battles here, and her many friends. Were they all gone now? Were all her friends now like the dust that covered this room?

"I just can't seem to let go of this place," she whispers. "Too much of my life is here."

OOC: I checked this board on a whim, remembering all the good times I spent here from about 2000 on. I was horrified to see all the spam messages and garbage that had accumulated.
I went to the Admin Login page, without a single clue of what I used to use to log in. On another whim, I typed in a password.
It worked.
Maybe no one comes here anymore. I wouldn't blame them, but if they do, I've at least cleaned up the garbage. I'm leaving my email in this too, so if anyone wants to re-live some of the old days, just drop me a line. Especially if any of these old char names seem familiar to you.

Still OOC: I finally found a link to an active Sali Dance! Well, *looks around* maybe not active, but at least still up. I recognize a few names of posters here... like Brock/Slash below. I was here in the days of insidetheweb, I think it was the spring and summer of 1998? 1999 maybe? I played a wildcat named Nightshade who later changed her name to Ashlan. I knew Shay, a wolf, Goldberry, shoot, I've forgotten almost everyone! Oh yeah, Raitha, Kit and Kaie, the CASM. Flair. I was "engaged" for awhile to someone named Maul. It was when Bella still ran it, when everyone claimed a colour for their posts. There used to be other boards we would go to... someone mentioned the Redwall Dating Board, that was black, I remember that. Oh man, it's like memory lane! I had so much fun here, it used to be so busy. Shay and I invented Da Couch. I hope I've triggered someone's memory, it would be great to talk to someone I knew! HOLY CRAP - THE SALI DANCE!! This is a crew from back in the day.. we went by Swifty & Co. as the leader and my ROC first character was Swiftslayer the fox. Others in this ragtag band are Meka (mouse), Alanna Moonkill (Marlfox), Akki Flameeyes (ferret), Kyra Swiftpaw (otter), and Breeze Treeflyer (squirrel). I know for a fact I had more characters than this at one point, but I was silly for making up more characters than I could remember. I see some on here still discuss the good ole ITW Sali Dance and all the groups of animals people had there. I can't even remember the colors all of my characters posted in! Anyway. The young fieldmouse tiptoed quietly into the hall, casting her large blue eyes about her nervously. So many beasts dancing around, having a good time. Hopefully she could join in the fun.

She moved timidly toward a chair, toying with the pearl necklace that hung about her neck. She did not know how pretty a picture she was, in her modest, short-sleeved pink dress and with her unobtrusive manners. Upon further reflection the young otter realized he could vaguely recall having come to the hall before, some time long before when his family was still around, when his family was still alive.

Now it was different. He'd been on his own for just a few seasons, having finally went his way from his twin, Rynna. His older siblings, all five of them, had their own lives in places that spaned from one coast to the other, from north to south. Somewhere his mother was most likely still wandering, her eyes still haunted by the beasts of her past, the memories he'd never seen her with out.

He didn't know why he'd come here. He knew his mother would have chastised him for it, for going back to the places they'd abandoned, the lonely outposts of her younger seasons, but he'd never tell her. No, that would just bring back memories he knew she didn't need. Memories of her friends and those she loved, his father one of the harsher ones.

He'd watched his father fall in defense of the Holt that his Aunt had founded, watched his siblings fight and watched his mother's pain as she realized she'd lost another creature she held so dear. Now they had scattered to the four winds and somehow he'd landed back here: a place he'd come only as the smallest of babes.

He wasn't bad looking for an otter, nore was he good looking per se. He was shorter than any of his siblings save Lilly, who was of course a mouse and had been adopted. His fur was dark, almost black in colour, but he had his mothers golden eyes. He wore a faded, worn blue tunic with a leather belt. Over his shoulder he wore his father's bastard sword, something that none of his siblings had wanted to do. His paws and face showed only the tip of the ice berg in relavince to the scars he'd picked up in the fight's he'd been in durring his young life. Each and everyone of them had come in a whitish gold, something gravely different from his normal coloring.

With a sigh, Andrew "Rue" Warcraft settled himself against the wall, wondering if anyone remembered Dewpaw Swiftwater - Warcraft or her brood. It would stand to reason that they didn't, he figured.

Oh well, only time would tell.

The back door to the kitchens swung open with a heavy clang, the sound of clattering bowls and various kitchen utensils resonating in the background, as the vixen emerges, looking, disgruntled...as usual. Lelana's eyes narrow as she gazes hopefully around the empty Dance. Go figure. She sighs, looking disappointed, as she slumps against the bar and pulls out a dusty bottle of wine from over the bar. Why not? Brushing it off with one of her paws, she breaks the neck and toasts the invisible beasts about the room.

She meanders into the hall, glancing at the bar, the dance floor, the dusty tables. She remembers the beasts that used to crowd this place. The laughter, the fights, the love, the memories.

Enter the vixen.
The distantly familiar green-eyed vixen holds open the door with her paw, holding back an annoyed sigh, as her younger comrade enters with a shuffle. The first strolls into the familiar landmark with a thoughtless glance as she heads for the bar, ruffling her short auburn hair tiredly as she hops over the counter to mix herself a drink. The younger fox [who had nearly identical eyes] follows, looking around the room in wide-eyed interest as she sits up on one of the bar stools, turning in the seat as she watches the vixen thoughtfully.
"Auntie?"
"Yeah?" The vixen's reply was muffled, she was ruffling under the bar for something.
"Why is it so empty?"
The vixen puttered around behind the bar, observing the dates on the bottles before selecting a musty bottle of wine that was covered with amber dust. Pouring herself some of the crimson wine, she leans against the bar as she looks at the younger one with a sad smirk.
"Because good things don't last."

*She pauses for a moment and drags the back of her paw against her damp brow.* Hoy! Wouldja lookit th'place....

*She wispers more to herself than anyone as her ever-cheery blue eyes look around. The hare is the same as she always was...and it is plain to see. The strength of her limbs can't be hidden by torn pair of pants she wears, and amidst the newer scars and scrapes remains the joyful disposition that never fades. After slugging her a glass of rosewater, she orders a blackberry cordial, scrapes up a handful of candied chestnuts from a large dish on the bar's counter, and finds a seat near the dance floor. She leaps into the chair and pushes off the chair with her legs so only two chair legs remain planted on the floor. A grin spreads across her face as she thinks for a moment of the old day....many-a-season ago, when the like of her old friends lit up the dance floor.....Goldberry, the Cap'n.....Brock, Gillespie...and....she furrows her brow as she tries to recall....oh, she's already forgotten all the names, ah, well....she has aged much since coming here last, but had to come at least one last time out of respect for this legend of a place.*

Things never changed did they? The vixen mused this silently as she slunk into the Sali, her violent green eyes intune with the emptiness of the room. Figures no one was here. Just the same, she strutted in like it was still yesterday. Sidling over to the bar, she picks out a dusty bottle of wine, unscrews it, and chugs.

*A large wolf slowly makes his way into the dance hall, his silver eyes looking around, knowing where everything is yet not knowing at the same time. He smiles slightly and sits down on a cloth, and seems to mutter a small story.

"My first adventure.... was to the isle of Bloodeyes...one of the first female leaders of a vermin group. But she soon retired. I set out across the land, and went across the sea and found a cove, lead by a evil mouse by the name of Dark Mouse. It was almost scary how infamous he become across the land, though I doubt any of you know him. I remembered the slight rivarly this place had with Redwall Dating board... I also remember when Bella ran this...thought it was ran at a different place along time ago. I doubt any of you know me...unless you can go back 5 or so years ago.

She is also wearing loose grey pants. She glances around and moves over to a quiet (not that it isn't already quiet) and shaded niche.

She had come here for some peace and quiet; too much had been going on lately. She sits in the niche and leans back, her head resting on the cool marble. And covers her eyes with an arm. And just sits there.**

Something like a shadow glided in the door, but the instant the shadow glided into the light it became a quick-striding wildcat, heading towards the bar. Her fur was a curious light black, like she had rolled in soot, and she had glaringly stark yellow eyes.

Narknon settled herself down at the bar, wondering exactly what this place was called. She absently ordered an ale and looked around the dance hall, her eyes slipping over the few creatures that were there.

The tan wildcat with the pale scar across his left cheek drifted through the oak doors and toward the bar, the path as familiar as ever. How long had it been since his last visit? Not long enough.

**A young stoat makes her way slowly across the empty, dilapidated dance floor, dragging boots too big for her noisily across the wooden surface. She does not cut much of an impressive figure. Her clothes are raggedy, sun-bleached and water-stained; the rough, utilitarian garb of a sailor. One small straight dagger is thrust through the cracked black leather of her narrow belt; a token arm in a barbarian world. The tail protruding from beneath her tunic is quite short and a bit mangled, as though it had met with some accident at a previous date. Her face is narrow and clever, but the only really remarkable feature is her eyes. One black eye gleams dully in the dim lamplight; the other is an uncovered, undisguised knot of scar tissue, disfiguring her face rather grotesquely. Still, her half-grin is un-selfconscious and friendly. She hefts her little frame onto a bar stool, not bothering to take paws out of pockets. She swings her paws in their oversized jack boots, staring listlessly across the deserted hall, ignoring the bartender, who hasn't made much of a move in her direction anyhow.**
