] Date Posted: 20:58:26 01/26/08 Sat I have been trying to find the titles for three films, and I THINK at least two of them, star Robert Young. I have done a filmography search, but come up zero. The first is set in the country, and Robert Young falls in love with a mysterious woman. She won't tell him why she can't see him, or what is wrong, but I believe we find out that her father (I think a doctor?)has been abusing her. Robert himself, wants to study to become a doctor. That's about ALL I remember of that one! Who knows, maybe Bob Osborne will stop by and set me straight! The second, is even more blurry, and I'm not even sure if it's Robert Young. I just remember a fisherman's cabin and a stormy, bleak sea coast. It seems that someone thinks 'Robert' is crazy...and he loves the man in the cabin's daughter. There is some running on the shore, at night. How's that for a hazy description!! I must be inhaling opium while I watch movies, eh?? OK, the third is very cool!! OOH, I THINK this may have starred Roddy MacDowell!! There is a teenage boy who is sent to a small, privately-owned mental home, because of an evil fiance of his mother's or sister. The lad has found out too much about who the fiance really is, and the guy wants to get him locked up and out of the way. It's really a good film! OK, if ANYONE has any idea what these movies are, I'd be very grateful!! [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
[> Subject: Just got a rare flash of light! hehe... I THINK I was thinking of Robert Montgomery! He was in some really wonderful, fun films, that you don't always see that often. Here I go, looking up HIS filmography!!

| [> Subject: There's 2 movies that remotely resemble the Robert Young movie you mention: One is "The Enchated Cottage," a rarely seen film where Young is a disfigured war vet who hides out at a cottage till he falls in love with an equally disfigured woman, but the "magical" cottage only lets them see each other as the beautiful people they used to be. The other starred Joseph Cotton (I think) rather than Young, as a painter who keeps seeing a young lady who may or may not exist. If I remember right it was named "Portrait Of Jeanie," and climaxed at a lighthouse. | |

[> [> Subject: I can't believe you mentioned those two films!! They aren't the ones I'm looking for, but I was going to say something about them, as you're right, they ARE of a similar ilk. I loved both of them, and they both had the sureal theme. Portrait of Jennie also starred Jennifer Jones, who could have that other-worldly look.

[> [> [> Subject: Well, I'm batting zero...Looked at a bunch of R.Montgomery titles, but nothing. BTW...The Enchanted Cottage is on TCM tonight, at 8:00 E.S.T. Don't know if I'll watch or not, I've seen it fairly recently.
