| Subject: There's 2 movies that remotely resemble the Robert Young movie you mention: One is "The Enchated Cottage," a rarely seen film where Young is a disfigured war vet who hides out at a cottage till he falls in love with an equally disfigured woman, but the "magical" cottage only lets them see each other as the beautiful people they used to be. The other starred Joseph Cotton (I think) rather than Young, as a painter who keeps seeing a young lady who may or may not exist. If I remember right it was named "Portrait Of Jeanie," and climaxed at a lighthouse. | |

It seems I was only recalling the beginning, about Bob's romance with a local, tragic, young woman....then the film veers into another story, mainly about Ron's character's life...and then the two join up again for the ending. I love the film, though it didn't get the highest rating. There is one scene in particular, where Bob, who has become a doctor, has to wrestle with ethics...and can he do the right thing, when whichever decision he makes, may hurt one of the two people involved, both of whom he cares for. Ann Sheridan was very good, in her role as Reagan's, other-side-of-the-tracks, Irish girlfriend. I recommend it!
