Date Posted: 948679219PST Heard it was pretty slow all around., but we did end up with a few fish. Hit the ramp early and headed up to Corral. No wind and slow for flatties. Lots of sharks Pinback and Smoothhound. Had one fish cut me off when I was fishing a whole live lizard as bait. Giant pinback Or......maybe something a little more disirable. A few additional mantis shrimp a few shorts. Finally got fed up and started working back hitting spots at anywhere from 50' to 150'. About Malibu the wind came up with a light rain. Hooked a nice fish that spit right below color. Few more shorts than moved to Big rock. I hooked another fish that I thought was a monster Halibut. Took a little drag pulled just right. Turned into a large weird ray. D@#N.... about the time I was releasing that monstrosity Rick Hooked up. He called it on the spot: "ANOTHER D@#N RAY: and started horsing it in. Somehow at the last minute this one turned into a 12lb halibut (I wonder about this fish transmutation) Taking no chances Mike And I double gaffed it. He on the right I was on the left. The fish ended up on the leaning post neat little holes on each side of it's head. Good to get a little carpet under our feet. After that: it was short fish city. Form the Charthouse on down we must of picked up a dozen or more shorts a few juuuuust under. So the damage was: one 12lb Flatfish and half a dozen Grumpy sandbass that were scattered through the day. Thats three sundays in a row with Ten pound plus fish. looks like it's going to be a hot off-season. Tight lines Jim [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
