Subject: A friend of my has that type of card. I try to always buy official card and controllers so they don't, you know...delete all my stuff...didn't quite matter this time though

You started the PS2 with that disc inside and when it loaded, pressed start and THEN put your game in. When I lost my old PS2 to my own stupidity (tried to get it modded), the new one wouldn't load the start-up disc. The FFX saves were the main loss. Ah well...
