There is no shortage of adults, many of whom are journalists, misunderstanding what happened. The notable public exception is Arnold, who took a reasonable position.

A similar situation is Dacula’s Responsible Parenting class, which was the subject of a recent AJC article and Get Schooled topic.

The bloggers, along with Ms Dodd, seemed to miss the fact that this isn’t some kind of punishment; it’s an elective students choose voluntarily. If some want to believe that high school kids really don’t know where babies come from, or enjoy being beaten over the head with a moral club, then have at it. Personally, I think these are kids who want facts so they can be responsible adults.

At the risk of repeating myself, the main problem kids face today is that their adult role models suck – and I keep seeing signs that kids are willing to make things better.

The future is in very capable hands.
