Subject: Maybe someone can explain this

After (making the mistake of) reading that other blogís posts on IE2, itís clear the general public is stone ignorant of its surroundings Ė not that this is news. But even ignoring the ramblings of those who need an AAA tour guide map to find their own ass, I donít understand some of the positions.

The GAE, for example, supports charter schools Ė or at least they did the last I heard - but they oppose IE2. Their specific criticisms of IE2 are exactly the same thing charter schools do, so whatís the difference?

Also, considering the way GCPS jumped into IE2, it appears Alvin got what he wanted after two years of haggling with legislators. Setting high goals is good and I can see the advantages in getting out from under some state mandates, but any school that fails to meet its IE2 goals is removed from GCPS administrative control. This seems like an enormous risk, even for someone as, um, confident as Alvin.

What part of this am I missing?
