Subject: Charter Commission approves 7, denies 21

After applications from virtual (online only) schools were tabled earlier, the Georgia Charter Commission acted on 28 applications.

The interview panels which met with the applicants during the process had unanimously recommend denying 21, approving 5 and recommend denying 2 by split vote.

The commission unanimously approved the 5 school charters recommended by the interview panel for approval and 1 school recommended for denial. Also, the commission by split vote (1 nay) approved 1 other school where the interview panel recommended denial.

All 7 schools were approved for additional “state” funding based on local funding.

After I consume the proper amount of writing fluid, I’ll have a better report on the main web page. I just wanted to scoop the AJC and get this up before they posted their report -)
