The QBE formula for Pataula is the same as Ivy Prep. There is one thing you seem to forget Ė

The Georgia Charter Schools Commission get the money for Charter Commission Local Revenue by deducting is from the state funding EARNED by students who attend the host school Ė in Ivy Prepís case, primarily Gwinnett.

There are systems where the tax rate is over 20 mills, but Gwinnett isnít one of them. A local BOE isnít allowed to exceed 20 mills unless voters approve it. If voters shoot it down, 20 is the max.

Yes, you can find systems that have higher local funding than Gwinnett, but you canít possibly use that as a reason to increase Ivy Prepís funding. GCPS is close to the max now. Structuring Ivy Prepís funding based on a system where voters approved a higher local tax rate would be funding Ivy Prep at a higher amount that than the BOE is allowed to fund its own schools Ė and youíre taking away the votersí option and replacing it with a decision by an appointed commission.

Speaking of where the Commission gets its money, my daughter is a GCPS student. She is counted with her classmates for QBE category funding, just like every other public school student in the state. But her school doesnít get what she EARNED because the Commission takes some of it away.

I spent a lot time verifying the kids at Ivy Prep get the correct QBE funding, but my daughter doesnít.
