This is a case of who will ultimately win the power in accountability. Local control has been overidden by State control. Whether you like or hate the Gateway test, whether you agree with how the money was spent or whether it accomplished what it was for, It has been nixed by the State. The real question I have is whether it was ever a local control issue at all. I suspect it was a backroom deal between state official and gwinnett officials to Test the concept of high stakes testing and also giving Gwinnett students the edge by being used to this type of testing. The only reason they would get rid of it was if it was redundant. Obviously it is. Maybe it was planned that way in the beginning and Gwinnett was the PILOT for the state.
