Subject: Open - Heart Surgery

Dear Classmates - On November 27th, I entered New York - Presbyterian Hospital in New York City and on the next day underwent open-heart surgery to repair my mitral valve. I'm home now rehabilitating for at least the rest of the month. Ordinarily, I wouldn't clog up the Forum with this kind of news, but it has a Central Tech connection. Do you remember doctors coming around once a year to examine the entire school? It was during just such an exam that Dr. Ayres (?) said that I have a heart murmur. I was checked out by a local cardiologist and don't remember his name or what he said. About two years ago my cardiologist here in Princeton began to talk about surgery, and after getting a second opinion, I agreed to go forward with it. As part of the recovery process, I walk a little more each day, and hope to return to work after New Year's Day. Rob Fraser
