Subject: Global warming...scared

Well folks, today I am turning to those who have lived a little longer than I have for any words that might help in facing the terrible world that seems to be on the way. 2007 is expected to be the warmest year on record, with the combination of El Nino and CO2 emissions...and I am about ready to lose hope. Even if we wake up and shape up there will be a rise in temperature of several degrees in this century and it will make the world unrecognizable. My generation's life span is going to correspond exactly to the death of the planet, in all likelihood. We're the environment's Holocaust generation...the ones who will see it all go. And we are already too old and too defeated to see how we can make much of a difference. The next generation is just focusing on adapting, it doesn't expect anything to be turned around. But how can you adapt to this?

I know you might well not have any consoling words--it's a myth that those older than oneself will, in fact often it's the reverse--at a certain age you begin to realize just how often evil wins out. But I need just to turn to PEOPLE today.

Tanya
