Subject: And now for something a little different

We sure have been like bugs snug in the rug since our reunion, haven't we?

Some, like Donna Wells in Denver, needed several rugs to sleep under what with all that white stuff in the Rockies.

My sister, Carolyn, in Springfield Mo. is in her 9th day without electricity due to the ice storms.

Me, I'm sittin pretty (so to speak) here in 82 degree weather contemplating whether it's time to mow the lawn.

We've been sharing stuff for about 5 years now and I know there's a lot of folks who enjoy reading rather than writing, so I thought I'd pop something on the Forum to fill the space.

We graduated in 1961. Pretty soon that'll be a half century!! That's a longgg time. A lot has happened both good and bad, and we carry our baggage along in life year by year.

1961 is but one year of many I collect as trivia clues in my games. There are over 500 clues in my databank and I wanted to present the ones related to our high school graduation year.

Possibly you might want to add others I'm missing or did not think about.

What else in your life in Syracuse, NY, U. S., and the world do you recall as being significant in 1961?

1961

“FREEDOM RIDERS”IN THE SOUTH
FIRST APPEARANCE OF BARBIE DOLL’S FRIEND, KEN
FIRST U. S. IN-FLIGHT AIRLINE MOVIE (NYC TO SAN FRANCISCO)
LAST YEAR GREAT BRITAIN USED THE FARTHING COIN
U. S. MINIMUM WAGE INCREASED TO $1.25 PER HOUR
WHEN "THE PILL" FIRST BECAME AVAILABLE IN THE U. S.
FM RADIO STATIONS WERE PERMITTED TO BROADCAST IN THE U. S.
