Several years oag....when Charlene and I were still living in Syracuse (c. 1971), we rented a pop-up camper and towed it all over New England with our '67 Beetle. We didn't go very fast, but we had a lot of fun.

We went across Lake Champlain on the ferry to Vermont. We didn't spend any time there, it wasn't too interesting. So on to New Hampshire.

We planned only staying one night in the White Mountains, but they were so beautiful, we actually stayed a few days. Went up on top of the highest mountain.

Then on to Bar Harbor. One of the memorable things was going down to the sea on those back-country roads. Boy, did we get good gas mileage what with the camper pushing the little Beetle down-hill all the way.

It was during this part of the trip that we came up on an older couple in a sedan. They seemed to be having some kind of argument. Suddenly, he reached over with his right hand to scratch his left ear, and then back-handed her right on the chops. Argument over !

When we got to Acadia National Park, we happened to meet up with my brother. He had started on trip out west some months before, and just by chance, happened to be camping at Acadia the same time we were. Aside from how cool it was, we really enjoyed Bar Horbor. We got two fresh lobsters at the dock and steamed them back at our camp. Delishous (sp) !!!

Then on to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Didn't stay any time there. Bacl across Massachusetts, down Jacob's Ladder, across the NY State Thruway and an to home.

All within a two-week period. Many grand memories....
