Subject: Cindy Doolittle's father dead at 91

William Howard Doolittle
October 6, 2007 William Howard Doolittle, 91, of Syracuse, died October 6, 2007, at Crouse Hospital. A native of Syracuse, he lived in Syracuse all his life. Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a Navy gunnery officer in WW II. He was a graduate of Syra-cuse University, Class of 1939. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He worked for King Storage Warehouse until he retired. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church United and the Syracuse Kiwanis Club and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in the Syracuse area for many years. He spent the summers of his youth at his family's cottage on Tully Lake. Later he enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Christie Lake, near Perth, Ontario. He loved sailing his Snipe, the "Kindoo," on Otisco Lake with his brothers-in-law Ted and Bob King and his Sunfish on Christie Lake. He was also active with the Boy Scouts for many years. He and his wife, Jane, were also active participants in the FolksMarch organization of Syracuse, both locally and on a trip to Europe. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Jane King Doolittle, and by his daughter, Cynthia Jane Doolittle. Surviving are his daughter, Christine Doolittle Glenn of Fairport, NY; his son, Robert King (Terri) Doolittle of Memphis, NY; his grandchildren, Carolyn and Jill Doolittle and Katherine and Melanie Glenn; a brother-in-law, Theodore King; a sister-in-law, Virginia Allen Doolittle; and many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him as "Uncle Bill." Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Fairchild and Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd., DeWitt. Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd, DeWitt. Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church United, 620 West Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
