While Denny's week may not be typical....he is a pillar of his church and a community leader in NC and bodies are clamoring for his strong hand on the handle of a casket....we are faced with the inevitable. Part of my work for our
class is reading the the Syracuse obits every morning of my life in order to both send our condolences from the Class of '61 and to archive the losses of our classmates and their loved ones.

I have recently joined Ancestory.com I am in the process of in-putting the
several hundred bodies who have walked this earth as the result of the union
between my g'parents Charles Anson Dodge and Adelaide Catherine McCabe.
I had put that piece of family history together last summer for the reunion. We knew next to nothing about my g'father....but with the advent of the computer and the enormous possibilities that it gives families in search of their roots...within a few minutes, I could see sets of grandparents for ten
generations back....to 1607, in fact. I am not having the same good fortune
with the Trinidad roots...a little third world vs. the computer problem there...
So, while we have had just a couple of funerals in the family of late, I am painfully and ethereally aware of the passing of time as I gaze on generation upon generation who have come and gone from this earth.

And, so it will be for each of us. Let us make the best of our re-connections
and stay close during these last few years of life. Use this forum...use your
email...use your phone....hug each other metaphorically. Stay in touch. This
forum is the tool to do it but if we don't keep it active and alive, classmates
will tire of returning to the same old, same old. Amen!
