He has been sick for a long time....he was our religious ed instructor for the Catholics who attended CTHS...he was a wonderfully kind man. They say once
he met someone that he never forgot them. I had not seen him in over 30
years when I was Principal at the Alt. School located in the old Carnegie Lib.
I was at Mass one day and he stopped at my pew to ask me how I was, what I
was doing, etc. I was flabbergasted. My only complaint about Fr. Champlin was
that he told us not to date protestant boys...I don't think I ever went with an RC
once in my entire life... but that always stuck with me.
