I use a Dell Dimension PC with an Intel Core 2 CPU and 2 gigs of RAM, running Windows XP SP3. I've found XP to be quite stable and decided not to "upgrade" to Vista. Good thing since Windows 7 will be here shortly. I've never used a Mac so I can't compare, but I've been quite happy with my PC, so score at least one for Microsoft! Also, Kathleen, I'm not a computer security expert, but I do know that Mac OS has it's own vulnerabilities so don't be lulled into a false sense of security because you're using a Mac. Best to use a personal firewall and security software which you need to update frequently. Also be very careful about opening e-mail attachments and downloading software from the web.
