Subject: The August Mini

The leaves are beginning to change color and some are falling. It is now Fall in upstate New York. Fall
officially made her entrance just a few days ago as summer came to a close.

This past summer, on the 28th of August, a Friday night, 26 of us Class of '61ers headed to Hullar's in Fayetteville for some real home-cooked Fish Frys. But this was not the usual fair. The fish could be fried or broiled, your choice. And the potatoes offered were either the ever popular French fries or baked or mashed. Or rice pilaf. Plus salad, veggie, and a decadent blueberry cheesecake dessert. Oh, yummy.

Hullar's was the location for our 2015 Mini, our 12th Annual Mini, with the first being held in 2002 at Coleman's. Since that time, our Mini(s) over the years have been held at such memorable spots as The Brae Loch in Cazenovia, The Burnet Park Zoo, Ryder Park in Dewitt deliciously catered by Ernie's, Justin's in East Syracuse, and even a dinner cruise on Skaneateles Lake.

Those in attendance at this Mini included John and Rita Downing, Janet Greer Wilson, Bill Goodwin, Vince Morgillo, Dave Turo, John McLoughlin, Tom and Carolyn Montgomery, Lou Farah and Bonnie Green, Billy Owens, Vaughn Burgmeier, Ken Klein, Mike and Elizabeth Darrow, Judy Merrow Jones, Carol Simmons Spiegel, Diane Metzger, Mike and Bonnie Madonna. Plus the members of the Mini Committee, who helped to arrange the venue, choose the menu, and create the ambiance. That would be Sue Kenyon Bartow, Mike Holley, Liz Beiling VanIderstine, Hazel Sterner Cushman, and yours truly, Donna Prosser Britton.

Truly more than just a fish fry. More like a seafood entree, complete with a delicious dessert. Cocktails were served before dinner and dinner extended until nearly 9p.m. Four hours of catch up. Our elongated table was a buzz from 5 p.m. until the last Class of 61er and their spouse said their farewell...until next year. And yes, pics were taken and will be available on our school website at www.scths.com soon.

Note: Next year there will be no Mini. Next year will be the year of our 55th reunion. Stay tuned to The Forum for all the details. And watch your mailbox. Plan to sign up as soon as you can. It will prove to be another memorable occasion. See you then!
