Subject: The journey (part 3)

The journey (part 3)- Well, I finally found a suitable location to send this next installment of my latest adventure. After a long and arduous flight from Italy to India, over some of the most remote and barren scenery in the world, I landed in New Delhi amongst the throngs of people lining the streets and alleyways. Such a mass of humanity living in the worst conditions makes one pause and give thanks for being able to grow up and live in the United States. I think it should be required for everyone to visit some of these locations to appreciate what we have been given. I took a train, or at least what they called a train, from Delhi to Calcutta to see the facilities used by the late Mother Teresa. Being here only amplifies what one has heard and possibly seen of the late missionary or “saint” where she toiled for many years graciously and selflessly ministering to the masses…a true miracle in humankind! I was privileged to attend an awards banquet during the week and saw many who have followed in Mother Teresa’s footsteps to continue on the work. I was stunned to find out that after the main meal I was told I had received the “anti-bullying award” for my efforts at humility and compassion…it brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat. I left the area thanking everyone for their hard work and tireless efforts to make the world a better place. My next leg took me to Indonesia and then on to Hawaii where I did some surfing on the north shore of Oahu in some of the larger waves…it was a thrill beyond words. The Hawaiian people and culture is amazing and their islands are a true paradise. I always enjoy stopping off here for a few days during my travels in the area. I will soon leave for home, but want to wish the class a most enjoyable spring and thank the hard workers in the Syracuse area who are planning and preparing for the upcoming reunion. I hope to see you all there and share some of my more unique moments. Until then, in the spirit of Robert Ripley…APRIL FOOL!!!!!
