Life Tribute/Obituary for

Sharon J. Delaney

October 31, 1943 - January 5, 2017.

"Shiney Shar Shar"....."Mommy Sharon"...... Forever the optimist, of endless compassion and understanding, selfless, a mentor, a dedicated friend, a loving wife, mother and grand mother.

Sharon was born in Syracuse, New York. She overcame many challenges as she grew up: losing her father as a young child, and the decline of both her mother and older sister's health. Sharon retained a positive outlook and was very determined to give her best. Graduating from Central Tech High School in 1961, she was am Althean Honors Club and Honors Society member and involved with other social activities. Sharon leaves behind her best friend met during her teens, Judy Jones, .

Her work ethic, dedication, and enthusiasm have been greatly appreciated from Sharon’s beginnings at Dey Brothers, New York Telephone, Pompo Electric. Baldwinsville Schools, ARC in
Syracuse and Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Schools, and Manor Pines. The majority of Sharon’s work efforts was Human Services. Advocating and educating for developmentally and physically challenged children and adults is where she was at her best. Sharon leaves behind her “crew” at Manor Pines (love you more Joyce Jucha!), where she worked part time – working her scheduled hours even in the face of battling illness.

A 5’2” bundle of energy who enjoyed dancing, water skiing, camping, crafts, and participation in theatre. On a blind date square dancing, Sharon’s romance life changed forever. She met; was courted, and in early 1964 married her lifelong partner, friend, and husband John J. Delaney, Sr. of Baldwinsville, New York. Sharon leaves behind their children, John J. Delaney, Jr. (52), Christopher T. Delaney (50), Kelly M. Miller (49), Melissa J. Delaney (33), grandchild Addisen J. Delaney (1 year),son-in-law Steve Miller and son John's lifetime partner Robbie K. Fessia. In addition, sister-in-law Jean White and brother-in-law Jerry Gray of Baldwinsville, New York, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews throughout the United States.

Sharon's life was dedicated to enriching the lives of many, selflessly placing her needs behind those of all others. She was the "Ms. Congeniality" regardless of person known/unknown, situation, crisis, at work or at home. Her spirit will forever remain a part of all those she touched and will be greatly missed.

Sharon’s thought for all, "When it comes right down to it, we must all support each other….be there for each other. That's what family does and we are all family here on His Earth".

Mom’s last wish was cremation with no services. Donate to your local charity or just give of yourself to someone in need.

- Authored by John J. Delaney, Jr. "# 1"
