Subject: Remembering the "Greatest Generation"

Today, 6 Jun 2019, we remember, in awe, the events of that faithful day 75 years ago on the western shores of France...D-day, the Allied invasion that turned the tide in WWII. The entire world was fixed on that small stretch of beach in which the largest military invasion in history was taking place. It has been depicted in various movies and documentaries, but, it is only brought home when you have the chance to stand on that same beach, look up at the formidable cliffs on Omaha and Utah beaches, and then gaze at the thousands of crosses in the surrounding cemetery, that you can hope to capture some of the moment. I will always treasure that experience and hope that all of you will someday experience that also. But, as many historians point out, it was not only the amazing efforts by those thousands of troops, but, also, the prayers of nations around the world that girded those same forces. Today, let's remember the heroes of that great battle and give them the honor and respect that is due and, never forget, that that same GOD watches over this great land today. Amen
