I am curious about why the family would have two children named John-one born in 1736 and the other, in 1738. How sure are you of this information. I am related to the Clevelands via Anna Cleveland, daughter of Alexander Cleveland (1712-1776), who would through two more levels, be my great, great, great, great grandmother. She married John Hazelrigg (1754-1833) and their son, Alexander Hazelrigg (1788-1843) and Catherine Berryman (1793-1875)had a daughter, Martha Hazelrigg (1818-1876), who married my great, great grandfather, John McConnell, Jr. An interesting sideline is, when trying to think of a middle name for my younger son, we came up with Alexander! This was many years before I found out that the family tree has so many Alexanders, including the first McConnell to immigrate to America, Alexander McConnell. I am currently trying hard to sort out all the Clevelands and have, via various family trees in Ancestry.com, tracked back to Uctred DeCliveland (1047-1114), however, the line is a single one without reports of wives or other children other than one son in each generation. I did find one source which says that Micajah was the son of John Cleveland, b. about 1675, who was the son of Roger Cleveland and an earlier marriage (about 1650) to Miss Rowzie or Rousey, which would make that John a half brother to Alexander (b.1687) and Elizabeth (b.1684), the children of Roger and Dorcas Alexander. Clearly, there is a lot of confusion about which alexander was father to whom. I am doing my best to sort them out and if I find any more about the Alexanders or Micajans, I'll let you know. KM
