Rev John Cleveland (1740-1825) m. Mary (Molly) McCann. They had a daughter, Frances (Fanny)Cleveland, b. 1768 who married John McNeill, b. 1758. Thay had a daughter, Frances Cleveland McNeill b. 1802 who married Noah Looney, b. 1799.
Now Mary (Polly) Looney b. aft 1815 married Samuel Carnes b. ca 1817. They were married in 1845 in Franklin County, GA. Mary (Polly) Looney died 24 Jan 1865 and Samuel Carnes died in 1898 in Hart County, GA. Was Mary (Polly) Looney the daughter of Judge Noah Looney and Frances Cleveland McNeill, or was she the daughter of one of Noah Looney's brothers? I have seen references to the father of Mary (Polly) Looney as being Noah, Adam and Joseph Looney.
Samuel Carnes and Mary Polly Looney of Franklin County and Hart Counties Georgia were my 2nd great grandparents.
I am looking at this line for a new Sons of the American Revolution supplemental application. Rev John McNeill is a DAR Patriot, and his descendancy down through Frances Cleveland McNeill is already a proven DAR record. But I've got to prove that Frances Cleveland McNeill and Noah Looney were the parents of Mary (Polly) Looney.
Thanks to anyone who has the correct information and will share it.
