I visited Culloden GA, Monroe Co., today. I visited with Mrs. Dan Haygood, an absolutely delightful 90-years old young resident of Culloden. She had several books, obituaries, and records that mention Wilde C. Cleveland b. 9 Apr 1836 and d. 31 Oct 1904, son of Washington Cromwell Cleveland b. 20 May 1803 and d. 8 May 1869,and Edna Armstrong b. 13 Sep 1803 and d. 4 June 1841. Both Washington Cromwell Cleveland and Wilde C. Cleveland were pastors (at different times) at the Sharon Primitive Baptist Church, located at Strouds Crossroads, Monroe Co., GA. Records of this are reported to be on microfilm at the GA Archives Bldg. and Mercer University Library in Macon. There was also an Allen Cleveland pastor there in August 1833. The connection with Crawford and Taylor Counties, GA is that a W.C. Cleveland (probably Washington Cromwell) was one of the first settlers of Crawford County, GA. As far as I could discern, Wilde C. Cleveland was referred to as Elder W.C. Cleveland. He is buried beside his third wife, Nannie Swint Cleveland b. 13 Jan 1840 and d. 10 May 1909 in the Culloden Baptist Church Cemetery. There is more, but I need to sign off. More later...Kathryn

Thank you so much, Grace. I suppose Cleaveland Coffey is the son of Jane Cleveland and Chelsey Coffey?

Kathryn;

I am so happy you found you Wilde. The reason I couldn't find him in my records is that I have him listed as Wyley Clayton Cleveland, Baptist Preacher, born 9 April 1836 in Crawford County, Georgia.

Grace
