> Additional info about Jemina Cleveland-illegitimate daughter of Col Ben Cleveland.
According to the testimony of James Rutherford Wyly September 15, 1845 Feliciana
Parish,Louisiana (Probate record #2257)...he and his sister(Elizabeth Cleveland Wyly)
were the children of Jemina and James Wyly prior to her relationship with Evan
Edwards. Evan was murdered by Indians along the Cumberland Gap in 1794 with his
family present according to this vivid testimony of James R. Wyly. He states that his
sister-Elizabeth- married a John Hall in Tennessee in 1820. Elizabeth was married earlier
to Charles Ingram in Ga..............James W. Wyly further testifies that following the
murder of Evan Edwards...Jemina went to Jefferson Co., Tn. and from there her father-
Col Ben Cleveland sent for her and moved her to SC near him. She later married -Daniel
Cleveland (a cousin) in 1798 and moved to Louisiana around 1810. James W. Wyly
stated that he did not know whether Jemina and James Wyly were married or not but
stated that he lived with Jemina and Evan edwards 8 or 9 years prior to his death in
1794.Not sure when Jemina Cleveland died in La.

1845 Feliciana Parish, Louisiana Probate Record 2257 James Rutherford Wiley
Sept15,1845 stated he did not know whether Jemina and Evan Edwards were married
or not . AmeliaWilliams testified she was very well acquainted with both Jamina and
Evan Edards about 4o years since the first acquaintance and then and then knew them
for 10 or 15 years in Jefferson County, Tenn. She said that she (Jamina) married
Evanglist Edwards that she was present at the wedding. Suzanne Randolph who is now
living in Jefferson CoTennessee was present at the marriage, and I do not know of any
other living person who was present at that time. They lived together as husband and
wife until his deathandwere regarded such in the neighborhood where they lived until
his death.
East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana Volume 11 Hephzibah Babtist Church Records by Mary
Ann Smith Sagely.Copyright 1985, Clinton, La. 1813 Jamina Cleveland and Daniel
Cleveland were members. They were among a group of early settlers that started this
church. Jamina was my 5th grandmother. They had several children but I do know
Jamina and Daniel had a daughter Sarah Cleveland Lee.
From the Hephzibah Church records these are minutes of their
meetings and none of the spelling was changed. Jemimah Cleveland was the way her
name was in the book. Also, Evangelist Eddards was the spelling in this book.Court
papers all done in hand writing have Edwards, and Eddards and Jemima, who
knows!Daniel Cleveland outlived Jamina.I read where she died in 1832 in East Feliancia
Parish, La. I am not positive. Any other infro would be greatly appreciated. Parish
records on Danield Cleveland did say he told people that he was a direct decendent of
Oliver Cromwell!Daniel Cleveland was a cousin to Jamina and her father was Col.
Benjamin Cleveland. Who Knows!!!

Elizabeth Cleveland Wyly born 1784,...daughter of Jemima Cleveland and James Wyly.....died January 1855 in Monroe County Tennessee. Elizabeth married Charles Ingram about 1800 had 5 children and about 1812 moved with Charles to Louisiana,...apparently divorced and moved to Blount Co., TN where her father lived because in November 1820 she married John Hall there. She and John Hall had no children.
